Jefferson County Historical Society has approximately 500,000 archives, more than 20,000 photographs and 15,000 artifacts and had outgrown the research center building they moved into  in 2003. The new collections building will have the space to house the historical archives and is equipped with proper environmental controls to ensure long term preservation.
